Alpkit has opened a new store in Edinburgh, not far from the iconic Arthur’s Seat volcano in Holyrood Park. It is the sixth store of the outdoor brand, based in Nottinghamshire, England, and its first in Scotland. In a statement published on its website, the company described its Scottish store opening as “a milestone to remember,” emphasizing the natural bond between Scotland’s landscape – mountains, Munros, rivers and lochs – and Alpkit’s DNA. The store, which was announced already last year, occupies a building locally known as “The Shed,” with a hundred-year history, originally built for use in the paper industry and most recently used for furniture sales and storage. In addition to products for outdoor enthusiasts, Alpkit Edinburgh offers a fully functioning repair station. Customers can also drop their old products into the donation box of the Continuum Project, an initiative for circular economy that the company started in 2017 through its Alpkit Foundation.
