Messe München announced the cancelation of the upcoming OutDoor by Ispo 2020 in Munich, which was to take place from 28 June to 1 July, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The decision was taken following the recommendation of the Bavarian state government and health authorities and in close consultation with the European Outdoor Group (EOG), the OutDoor by Ispo Advisory Board and the exhibitors.

Mark Held, president of the EOG, said the cancellation will free up urgently needed company resources that can be used to support employees, retailers and other stakeholders along the entire supply chain at a time when the outdoor industry is under unprecedented stress from the pandemic. Arne Strate, EOG’s general secretary, added: ”As events continue to unfold around the world, it is clear that the idea of proceeding with the plan to hold an international trade show towards the end of June is foolish. Even if travel restrictions were to ease by June, the economic harm being caused by the Covid-19 pandemic is making it very difficult to justify budgets for such an event, and quite rightly, those working in our sector need to focus their attention and energy elsewhere now.”

As Messe München announced this morning, decisions on the continuation of the Ispo Digitalize Summit, Ispo Textrends and Outstanding Outdoor formats will be made at a later date.
