Rock Point, the Czech retailer and distributor, has appointed András Sárközy as its new chief executive. This move is particularly interesting because Sárközy is and continues to be the owner of Mountex, a leading Hungarian retailer and distributor. Sárközy confirmed his appointment at the top of the Czech company and said – without getting into details at this point – that some synergies may be established between the two companies.

As is common practice in Eastern European countries, both Rock Point and Mountex act both as retailers and wholesalers in their respective countries. Rock Point operates 19 stores in the Czech Republic and distributes a long list of well known brands both in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, including Keen, Mountain Hardwear, Osprey, Lafuma, Lowe Alpine and SmartWool.

Mountex runs five corporate shops in Hungary and has franchisees running nine other stores in the country. Currently, Mountex distributes brands such as Julbo, Tatonka, La Sportiva, Singing Rock, Osprey and the brands of Cascade Designs in the Magyar country
