Aku has confirmed an agreement to supply the Swiss Army with 4,000 pairs of its “KS Leight GTX” boots annually. Without giving a specific sales figure, the Italian outdoor brand says its net sales grew by 5 percent in 2008, while its orders are up by 11 percent in Italy and by 25.8 percent abroad, thanks in part to new distribution agreements in Finland and Romania. Sales of Icebreaker, which Aku distributes in Italy, rose by 43 percent in 2008 and orders are up by more than 37 percent. Several marketing initiatives are planned in spring in Italy and elsewhere to support the sell-out of Aku’s retail clients.
