Registration is now open for the 2019 edition of the European Outdoor Summit (EOS), to be held at the Congress Centre Kursaal of Interlaken, in Switzerland, on Sept. 26-27. This year, and for the first time, there is a special incentive to register quickly, as the EOS is offering a discounted “early bird” rate. Until July 19, a delegate ticket will cost €550 and a member ticket will cost €500. After that date, tickets of either kind will increase to €650 apiece. Attendees will be charged a VAT on top of these prices. The delegate rate includes access to the usual Networking Evening on Sept. 26. Hotel accommodations for the summit can be booked through the summit's website.

The theme for this year's summit is “The Outdoor Industry - Redefining Boundaries.” Anne Skare Nielsen, chief futurist and partner of Future Navigator, will open the proceedings with a keynote address titled “From More to Better (or Why the Next 10 Years Will be Amazing).” In her view, the big question for the next decade will be “Who are you on this planet?” and the next big journey will be “the journey within,” whose destination is “you.” A Dane who studied biology and political science at Wharton and Columbia University, Nielsen works with local and multinational organizations and speaks on the radio show The Philosopher, the Writer and the Futurist.

The IWA Classic show in Nuremberg will be the headline sponsor of the annual convention, which is organized by the European Outdoor Group in a different country every year. Vibram has agreed to be a major sponsor of the EOS for the third year in a row along with Ispo, OutDoor by Ispo and Gore-Tex. Among the other sponsors are Btwentyfour, a company specializing in electronic-data interchange (EDI) for supply chains, Martin Kössler's HuginBiz consultancy, Polygiene and YKK. Ecco Outdoor, Klean Kanteen and the Kendal Mountain Festival are listed as “contributors.”
