In cooperation with Messe Friedrichshafen, iF is organizing the sixth OutDoor Industry Awards for the most innovative products. Applications will be accepted until June 10. The jury will make its choice on June 28-29, and the results will be presented in a ceremony at the OutDoor show on July 14, which is set to break a new record in terms of the number of exhibitors.
The jury is highly qualified to select the best gear. Besides designers and mountaineers, it consists of Mark Held, secretary-general of the European Outdoor Group; Bernd Woick, a pioneer in outdoor retailing from the Stuttgart area; and journalists such as Tjeerd Visser from the Dutch Op Pad magazine and Bene Benedikt from the German Alpin magazine.
Awards are granted in eight categories: apparel/helmets/footwear,backpacks/travel equipment, mountaineering equipment, camping, sleeping bags, accessories, sustainability, and material development. Among those eight winners in each category, one brand will walk home with the overall gold award. Additionally, another jury will anoint again a “celebrity of the year” who has had an impact on the entire industry in Europe and beyond. Last year’s winner of the prize was Bo Hilleberg, the visionary tentmaker from Sweden.
