Asolo is taking on the distribution of Komperdell in Italy and the U.K.. The Austrian brand was previously represented by LandMark in Italy, but it has been out of the British market for more than three years. Asolo suffered a lot in Russia and other Eastern European markets last year, but the brand is enjoying a recovery this year, projecting a sales increase of about 8 percent. Its sister brand, Lowe Alpine, suffered a sales decline of about 20 percent in apparel, leading to its previously reported decision to stop developing and selling the line, at least directly. For spring/summer 2008, the line will be carried by Lowe Alpine’s U.K. operation, which is profitable, and by licensee in Korea, Japan and some other markets.
