Black Diamond, the U.S. maker of climbing and skiing gear, has won the Industry Award of the American Mountain Guides Association for 2009. The award goes to outdoor companies that support the industry through scholarships, products and sponsorships for mountain guides. The company has worked with the AMGA for 17 years to offer educational support, and sponsors the organization’s Rock Guide Certification exams, which helps reduce tuition costs. It also offers one scholarship a year for full tuition for an AMGA course or exam. The award is to be presented at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market this week.
