Keen Footwear has appointed Casey Sheahan as its next president, effective Nov. 14. He replaces Steve Meineke, who was set to retire in mid-November. Meineke will continue to collaborate with the company as an active member of the advisory council.

Sheahan has a 35-year experience in the outdoor, athletic and publishing industry. Most recently, he served as the president and chief executive of Patagonia. He began his career as the editor and publisher of Powder Magazine. He has later held leadership positions at Nike as category manager of Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear), vice president of marketing at Merrell and as president of Kelty.

Since retiring from Patagonia in 2014, he has been serving on various advisory boards across the outdoor industry, including Keen. Sheahan has also previously served as the president of the Conservation Alliance, and this past role, together with his long-standing industry experience, will enable him to be actively engaged in Keen's sustainability efforts.

Sheahan is Keen's fifth high-ranked hire over the past year, during which the company has also welcomed John Eberle as general manager of outdoor, lifestyle and kids, as well as Tyler LaMotte as vice president of global brand marketing, Rob Langstaff as vice president of international, and Christy Saito as vice president of global product merchandising, outdoor and lifestyle. Sheahan will be based in Portland, Oregon, at Keen's global headquarters.
