Clarus Corporation, the parent company of Black Diamond and Gregory Mountain Products, will formally change its name to Black Diamond Sports by the end of this month. Clarus has filed a shelf registration for the sale by some of its shareholders of 19 percent of the equity at a price that would value the company at $250 million instead a previous valuation at $172 million. Some shareholders have a lock-up agreement for 88.4 percent of the shares until May 28, 2012. Some of the proceeds for the planned sale would be used for strategic development and growth, partly through acquisitions.
