Columbia Sportswear has opened its first factory outlet in Germany. The 250 square meter store is located in Ingolstadt Village, a factory outlet center halfway between Nuremberg and Munich. The outlet’s offer are close-outs of both the Columbia and Sorel brands. According to Scott Ziegler, the company’s director of retail, the Ingolstadt store is part of Columbia’s European go-to-market strategy whose focus will be on Germany and the U.K. during the next twelve months. The company also has a new factory outlet in the U.K. in the Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet in Ellesmore Port. The other two European factory outlets of the company are located in Troyes, the French hot spot for smart shopping, as well as in Las Rozas outside Madrid.
