Cotopaxi, the U.S.-based outdoor gear and apparel charity and brand, is expanding its grant program to include more innovative, sustainable and change-making organizations and has announced a partnership with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP). ROMP is a Denver-based global nonprofit organization founded in 2005 to improve mobility for people with amputations. According to the World Health Organization, 9 out of 10 people worldwide who need assistive devices do not have access to them; this includes adequate prosthetic care for people with amputations. In countries like Ecuador – the focus country for the Cotopaxi-ROMP partnership – the loss of limb often means the loss of independent mobility or work ability. ROMP works with a network of local community leaders, prosthetists and clinics from the private, nonprofit and public sectors to provide quality prosthetic care to Ecuadorians. With Cotopaxi’s support, the organization now expects to raise more funds and awareness in the country about the importance of mobility.
