Dakine has entered into a partnership with 1% for the Planet, committing to donate 1 percent of gross sales from e-comm sales each year to select non-profit environmental partners strategically supported by the 1% team. The partnership aligns with Dakine’s commitment to respect and protect the mountains and the ocean. In addition, Dakine has launched an updated sustainability page on its website that outlines the brand’s sustainability initiatives and commitments. The landing page is based on Dakine’s commitment to producing trustworthy products while reducing the impact of those products on the environment. The landing page covers actions in several categories, including recyclable textiles, durability, materials, manufacturing, packaging, partners, etc. Measures taken include:
- Using 100 percent recycled and bluesign-certified main materials in the manufacturing of the Snow, Bike and Travelbag product lines.
- Introducing Re-Psyched technology with the Sender jacket and pants, the brand’s first outerwear set that can be recycled.
- Introducing the first Gore-Tex PFC-free glove this winter as part of an overall shift to recycled PET materials and PFC-free waterproof technology.
- Using 100% biodegradable Friendly Foam materials in the construction of Surf Traction.
- Working with responsible manufacturing and distribution partners with solar-powered and WRAP-certified factories.
- Using biodegradable poly bags for shipping all garments starting in Spring 2022.
