In the development of its completely revised range of trekking mats for spring 2022, the Swiss outdoor camping equipment supplier Exped placed the focus on sustainability as well as simplifying the selection.

“With our growing range of expedition mats, it was becoming increasingly difficult for customers to choose. With the redesign of our mats, we have extremely simplified the selection process and are now strongly aligned with customer needs,” said Eicke Thiele, sales manager at Exped. The result is three clearly defined lines: Ultra, Dura and Versa. The desired mat is now selected according to two simple aspects – intended use and degree of insulation.

“In addition, sustainability was also very important to us. That’s why only recycled outer materials are used in the new collection,” Thiele explained. The entire sleeping mat series is now CO2-compensated in collaboration with myclimate. In addition, recycled outer materials are used in the manufacturing process, producing less plastic waste and using less water, energy and CO2. In addition, the fabrics used for the mats are either Bluesign or Oeko-Tex-certified.
