Thanks to YKK zippers, among other things, Isbjörn wants to be 100% PFAS-free from FW23 onwards

With an ambitious goal to reduce carbon emissions and be net zero by 2045, outdoor children’s brand Isbjörn of Sweden has confirmed that its entire product range will be 100 percent PFAS-free from fall/winter 2023. YKK zippers, which are free of fluorocarbons in both material and processing, are now also helping to achieve this.

“As part of the outdoor and fashion industry, we need to do everything we can to ensure the planet is around for future generations. That’s why we have set ambitious sustainability goals and a roadmap to contribute to the UN’s 1.5-degree climate target for 2050,” said Maria Frykman, CEO of Isbjörn. To reduce CO2 emissions by at least 50 percent by 2033 and achieve net zero by 2045, Isbjörn must be fully circular, Frykman said.

In addition to using only recycled or biodegradable materials and working with renewable energy, it is also important to use recycled and biodegradable materials. “We have been working with Rudolf Group for many years, and their fluorocarbon-free hydrophobic treatment Bionic-Finish ECO is an essential part of our outdoor products. By now also using only PFAS-free YKK zippers, we can confirm that all our products from fall/winter 2023 will only use materials that do not release harmful fluorocarbons into the atmosphere.”
