For Fall 2022, backpack specialist Osprey announced a shift to 100 percent recycled fabrics in the main bodies of all new SKUs introduced for the fall 2022 line. According to a company release, this move reduces Osprey’s impact by 30 to 40 percent compared to using virgin materials. For Fall 2022, all new main body fabrics are made 100 percent recycled content (except where ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is used for added durability) and 65 percent of fabrics across the fall 2022 line are made with 100 percent recycled content.

Additionally, Osprey is now a full bluesign systems partner with 70 percent of all main body materials to be bluesign-approved by fall 2022, with a goal of 90 percent in 2023. As for the accessories used, 37 percent of pack buckles in the fall 22 line have been moved away from carbon-based natural gas and are made from a certified renewable bio-based methane alternative.
