Shortly after the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has presented its proposal for restricting PFAS in Europe (as reported earlier in OIC here), textile technologies provider Sympatex is working on a series of educational webinars on the topic that aim to clarify the process and consequences for stakeholders in the sporting goods industry. With the possible participation of the European Outdoor Group (EOG) in the webinars that are not confirmed quite yet, the sessions will most likely also touch on the specific needs of the outdoor industry and retail.

During the next weeks, ECHA’s Scientific Committees for Risk Assessment (RAC) and Socio-economic Analysis (SEAC) will discuss whether the submitted restriction proposal meets the legal requirements under the registration, evaluation and authorization of chemicals (REACH) regulation. After that, a scientific review of the proposal is planned, with a six-month public consultation phase that starts on March 22. For all those interested in participating in the consultation, ECHA will organize an online information session on April 5.

The Sympatex webinars are planned for April and May 2023, with a focus on the textile industry and ECHA’s PFAS consultation process. As soon as precise dates are available, OIC will inform you. The full recording of the ECHA presentation of the proposal for restricting PFASs is embedded below.
