As the first company, Vaude has passed the revised and tightened requirements of the German government’s textile standard “Grüner Knopf” (Green Button).

Since Aug. 2022, companies have been able to be audited in accordance with the Green Button 2.0 standard. Their requirements newly include introducing measures to promote living wages and setting sustainability targets for the company’s management. Labeled products may now only consist of approved fibers. Vaude was the first company to pass the two-day Green Button standard audit by the independent institution Control Union.

The Green Button contributes to the promotion of more sustainable production conditions along textile supply chains. The seal is issued by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which thus continues to promote the protection of people and the environment in global supply chains. Other German companies partnering with the Grüner Knopf label are Chiemsee, Deuter and Jack Wolfskin.
