The European Outdoor Group has joined forces with the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) to organize a roundtable conference on the theme “Living Wage.”
The event will take place in Berlin on Oct. 27. Access to the conference is strictly limited to invited guests. Invitations can be applied for through Mark Held, EOG's secretary-general.
The idea behind the conference is to make sure that all workers affiliated with the outdoor supply chain earn enough money to provide for their families in return for their work.
Held emphasizes that especially in Asian countries, improvement is needed where national legislation often falls short of allowing workers in the apparel industry to feed their families.
The Berlin roundtable will offer an interesting group of speakers from various countries: Annanya Bhattacharjee from the Society for Labor and Development (India), May Wong from the Globalization Monitor (Hong Kong), Ineke Zeldenrust from CCC and Henrik Lindholm from the Fair Wear Foundation (both from the Netherlands).
