For the first time ever, Vaude will offer an entire range of ecological products throughout its product range for spring/summer 2011, from apparel through sleeping bags and backpacks. This is meant as an ideal platform for the establishment of ecologically themed POS concepts, called “Öko-Welten” (Eco-Worlds) at retail. As indicated in the previous issue of The Compass, the German company is introducing a new classification of five different categories of sustainability standards, called the “Öko-Pyramide” (Eco-Pyramid). About 30 percent of the apparel items in the spring/summer 2011 collection will be made ecologically, with more than 50 percent of the children’s range made with Bluesign certified materials.
