Garmont International has appointed several new managers in the last few months, in connection with the entry of new shareholders (Compass Vol. 11 N° 3+4 of Feb. 21, 2018) and the departure of Marco Sancandi, its former director of operations, who has now joined Asolo as vice president of sales and marketing for Europe (see the News Brief in this issue).
The new chief operating officer is Michele Battocchio, who joined the company last September to work with the board on a new business plan intended to make the company more agile and efficient in a highly competitive market, with a focus on outdoor and tactical shoes.
He previously spent 15 years at the helm of Northwave, where he helped to triple the group's turnover. Prior to that, he worked at Stonefly, Sara Lee and Calvin Klein.
Battocchio recently brought in a new marketing manager, Mauro Baldini, as well as a new supply chain manager, Davide Calcagnotto, replacing Alessandro De Bortoli. Both of them worked previously at Northwave.
The company has also appointed a dedicated manager from another sector, Agnieska Wisniewska, to be fully in charge of sales of tactical products.
Meanwhile, Catrade has agreed to take the place of Ibex as Garmont's exclusive distributor in Switzerland.
Garmont continued to grow at a double-digit rate last year, with consolidated sales rising by more than 20 percent to around €17 million.
