Graham Rickard, formerly in charge of international marketing and sales for both Regatta and Dare2be, was appointed from the end of July as managing director for the Dare2be brand. This is a new position, which underlines the growth of the young mountain sports brand launched by the Regatta group about a decade ago. It reached sales of about £13 million, on a reported turnover of about €155 million for the Regatta group in 2008. This included sales of about €93 million for the Regatta brand itself, while the rest was split between Hawkshead and Craghoppers. In the last years Rickard supervised the international growth of Dare2be, particularly in the German-speaking countries, France, Spain and the Benelux countries. A recent feature by Journal du Textile indicated that Regatta and Dare 2be have both enjoyed average sales growth of more than 15 percent for the last few years. The expansion was driven by international sales, which made up about 30 percent of the British group’s turnover last year. Before Rickard’s promotion, Keith Black, the general manager of the Regatta group, effectively supervised the Dare2be brand along with the Regatta brand. Rickard joined the group 13 years ago as sales manager for the Regatta brand.
