Gresvig, the buying group that operates both the Intersport and G-Sport formats in Norway, is preparing to open its first G-Max megastore in the Norwegian city of Stavanger in November. Earlier this year the company unveiled plans to open stores of about 4,000 square meters to compete head-on with XXL, the large-scale retailer that has shaken up the Norwegian sports market in the last years. After Stavanger, two more stores are scheduled to open in Ålesund in March and Kristiansand in April, and the retailer aims to have at least 20 G-Max stores in all of Norway’s largest towns by the end of 2015.
