Grupo de Alta Montaña Español (GAME), a Spanish high-altitude climbing and mountaineering association, appointed Jesus García López as a honorary member at its annual meeting, in the presence of 90 people including many Spanish climbers of all ages, because of his contribution to the development of climbing and mountaineering. He founded Calzados Boreal and launched at the end of the 1970s a famous shoe, the “Fire Cat”, which was used for numerous climbing expeditions in Spain and the U.S.
