In 2007, in its full first year of marketing its own footwear, Salewa managed to sell slightly more than 50,000 pairs of shoes. Antonio Dus, the manager in charge of the brand’s footwear division, a volume of between 90,000 and 100,000 pairs could be reached in 2008. Dus told THE COMPASS at the OutDoor show that Salewa intends to move the footwear production partly to Europe. Especially for the new collection presented at the show, up to 20 percent of the entire volume might be manufactured in Italy and Romania.
