In its fiscal year 2009-10, which ended Feb. 28, SportScheck, Germany’s largest specialty sporting-goods retailer, increased its sales by 5.5 percent to €323 million after VAT. Online sales reached a share of 23 percent of total sales and increased by 4.0 percent. The brick-and-mortar business comprising 15 doors across the country rose by 7.0 percent. The opening of the Berlin store is scheduled for September, another one is planned in Braunschweig for 2011. About 25 percent of total sales came from the outdoor category which increased by 14 percent. Contrary to the general trend in Germany, equipment sales soared by 13 percent, while shoes increased by 26 percent.
