Invista’s plans to build a new production facility in the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park are going forward after a recession-related delay. It should help meet the region’s need for nylon 6,6 intermediates and polymer. It is currently working on an environmental impact assessment, and should start construction on the facility next year. Production should kick off in 2014. The company says that the state-of-the-art plant will be the most energy-efficient and technologically advanced nylon intermediates plant in the world. Invista makes Coolmax, Cordura, Lycra and Thermolite.
