Jürg Buschor, a former executive of Salewa, and his company Outkomm are launching Freeride Maps, a collection of maps for freeriders providing a profound knowledge of freeride hot spots in the Alps. All rideable slopes, drops and couloirs are marked as freeride corridors and marked with different colors for three difficulty ratings. Short ascents are marked with red lines. The Freeride Maps are based on topographic maps on a scale of 1:25,000 centimeters. They contain all essential information about the terrain that is necessary for planning and going freeriding. The maps are printed on water resistant and indestructible paper. A dozen maps of the best Swiss and Austrian resorts have been already published, another six will follow in January. This winter the focus is on Switzerland and Austria. More maps on resorts in Italy and France are expected to hit the stores for fall-winter 2010-2011. The Freeride Maps are distributed through specialty retailers (both book and winter sports).
