The Swiss mountain lift operators report that the 2021 summer season starts on schedule, with all protective measures against Covid-19 infections in place. Some Swiss resorts are already in operation. The lift operators have taken the necessary precautions to implement all the requirements of the authorities for the safety of their guests. The protection concept specifications in force since summer 2020 and coordinated with public transport still apply (distances, hygiene, mask obligation). For the coming season and taking into account the current pandemic situation, Seilbahnen Schweiz (Ropeways Switzerland) has supplemented its basic protection concept; the document (link for direct download/German-language MS Word doc) is kept up to date with the federal government’s requirements. The obligation to wear protective masks (mouth-nose protection) applies not only in the enclosed gondolas or cabins, but also on the open-air lifts (chairlifts, T-bars). Wearing a face mask is also mandatory in the queuing areas (both outdoors and indoors); guests must bring their own face mask.
