Black Diamond Equipment (BDE) has promoted Stephan Hagenbusch to be responsible for Europe, following a successful move of the company's European operations from Basel to Innsbruck last June. He replaces Tim Bantle, who left the group at the end of February, going back to the U.S.

Besides taking full responsibility for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Hagenbusch will also oversee sales in Asia and South America for the group. Russia, Japan and China are seen as key targets for further development.

At BD Europe, Hagenbusch will be aided by a new director of finance and human resources, Johann Friembichler, who has been with the company since last October.

Hagenbusch, a former executive of Amer Sports, joined Black Diamond Europe at the start of 2014 as marketing manager. He will now report directly to John Walbrecht, the recently appointed global president of BDE based in Salt Lake City.

As reported in our previous issue, the group has also appointed Radhika Ray to the newly created position of vice president of strategy and investor relations. In addition, the group has hired Robert Fry to serve as vice president of merchandising and Trent Bush to work as vice president of apparel design for Black Diamond Equipment. Like Walbrecht, both Fry and Bush come from Mountain Hardwear. Bush also worked for Brandbase, a company in which Walbrecht was involved, and set up his own design studio after working for many brands including Burton Snowboards, where he co-founded its Analog brand.
