McTrek, the German specialty low-cost retailer, has opened its 13th outlet in the country at the Löhrhof Center in Recklinghausen, in the Ruhr Basin. Built in 1975, the Löhrhof Center is one of the oldest shopping malls in the country. The new McTrek outlet has a selling surface of a stunning 1,200 square meters and offers a wide range of top brands, including Jack Wolfskin, Vaude, Salewa, Mammut, Lowa, Columbia, Timberland and others. McTrek is a price-oriented chain owned by the Yeah! company which also runs a regular outdoor store in Frankfurt called Sine. The man behind the chain is Ulrich Dausien who founded the Jack Wolfskin brand back in 1981 which he sold to Johnson Outdoors, the American group, in 1991. McTrek was founded in 1995.
