We have already reported in our last issue about several new executives and officials who have joined the company. John Walbrecht, the new president of Black Diamond Equipment, has continued to recruit new managers, as part of a plan “to invest in the people necessary to support our global platform” and to take the company to the next phase of growth.

One of them is James Atkins, who has been appointed director of brand management, in charge of brand-building activities, community relations and sponsorships. He comes from NRG Energy, where he worked as director of global marketing for its Goal Zero brand.

Other new faces in the marketing department are Matt Blüher, former retail operations manager for Fjällräven North America, and Andy Earl, former content manager for Goal Zero. Blüher will fill the newly created position of director of retail and visual merchandising. Earl will serve as BD's photo editor.

Furthermore, BD has promoted Lisa Leffler from senior global logistics manager to director of global logistics and appointed Scott Furash as sourcing director. Leffler served as a logistics and purchasing manager with the Rossignol Group. Furash has since 2015 been the principal consultant of TriggerPoint Consulting, providing advice on global strategic sourcing, tactical procurement, product development and other tasks.

In announcing the new hires, Walbrecht stated that BD is in “the earliest stages” of its recruitment efforts. Meanwhile, BD announced that Robert Schiller was resigning as executive vice chairman and a director of the company to pursue other interests, after working for more than 20 years with Warren Kanders, the executive chairman. He will not be replaced.
