More than 100 projects intended to introduce 85,000 young people to the outdoors have won a total of $250,000 from The North Face’s Explore Fund in its inaugural years. The Outdoor Foundation administers the fund. The North Face launched the program in June and received hundreds of grant applications asking for more than $400,000 since then. The total awards are divided in $66,000 going toward access to front- and backcountry recreation; $62,000 for education for personal and environmental health; and $117,500 to promote a connection to nature, hoping to empower future leaders.
