Addressing customers all over Europe and in the U.S. in seven languages, the new virtual shop carries the domain name www.trekkinn.com. It has been more or less operational for the past five months, but its launch has been announced only now by its operators in Girona, Spain.
Competing against big players such as Barrabes, a Spanish e-commerce operation in the outdoor sector that also has its own brick-and-mortar stores, trekkinn.com guarantees a refund if the customer can prove that he or she has found the same product offered anywhere else at a lower price.
The new website boasts the availability of 673 different SKUs in the outdoor sector, but the choice of brands is somewhat limited. They are mostly equipment brands such as CamelBak, Ferrino, Garmin, Oregon Scientific, Petzl, Polar, Suunto and Techtrail. There are no softgoods brands on offer except for Asolo with a few shoe models. It has been announced that apparel of the Löffler brand will come up soon.
Trekkinn.com is part of a larger online operation started up nearly 10 years ago by a Spanish company, 116 Intrade, in the area of scuba diving, followed later on by snow sports products. Its two other websites, which are linked, are Diveinn and Snowinn, and they offer some 5,000 different products.
Intrade says it has sold its products to more than 60,000 customers in more than 100 countries. Young nationals from Belgium, Denmark, England, Scotland, Spain and Switzerland work for the company.
