Vista Outdoor, the parent company of Camelbak, has confirmed the appointment of Dirk Ostertag as its new senior sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The German executive is taking over the responsibility for the region from a British executive, Andy Shand, who was based in London, handling all the international sales activities of the brand since 2010. As we previously reported, Shand left last spring to work for Helinox as European chief executive for the Korean brand.

Based in the Munich area in Germany, Ostertag has been working with Camelbak as European sales director since 2016, handling mainly key accounts in Europe, but enlarged his responsibilities last October. Between 2013 and 2016, he had served as commercial manager for Speedo at the German office of the Oberalp Group. Prior to that, he had worked in key accounts for Polar Electro and Skins.

Ostertag is assisted by Sebastian Ohrmann, a former international sales and marketing director of Canyon who joined the brand in March 2018 after a consultancy. He will take care of marketing for the EMEA as well as the Asia-Pacific region.

Ostertag reports to Andy Welling, a former manager of The North Face, Patagonia, Marmot Mountain and Sherpa Adventure Gear who became vice president of global sales in April 2018. Since then, other managers including Steve Nadler and Andrea Erb have joined Camelbak at its head office in Petaluma, California. They will all be at the Ispo Munich show starting on Sunday.

Nadler became vice president of product and marketing for Camelbak last October. American Recreation Products and Arctic Cat were among his previous employers. Erb had joined Camelbak as manager of global brand strategy in November 2017, and she became the brand's director of marketing earlier this month.
