Patagonia is directly helping out in the Gulf of Mexico in the wake of the oil rig explosion in April. It is sending 10 employees per week to the coast to help a group it supports, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade, in relief efforts. Patagonia pays the employees’ wages and all expenses during their trips. It also has said it will give $100,000 to a few grass-roots environmental groups in the region, and instead of directly matching employee donations to relief efforts, will match at a 2-1 ratio through July 30.
