Pertex is introducing its “Quantum GL” fabric, which claims to be state of the art as far as the ratio between light weight and durability is concerned. For the time being, the garment is exclusively used by The North Face and Rab. “Quantum GL” was already presented at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City as well as at Ispo in Munich. At OR, however, it was presented under the name “Syncro,” a name that was already used by Mountain Hardwear. Apparently, Columbia Sportswear, MHW’s parent company, invited Pertex to find another name. The “Quantum” name for quality fabrics have been in the market for many years, with the “GL” extension now being added.
