California-based technical apparel brand 686 is collaborating with U.S. professional climber Lonnie Kauk, who was born and raised in Yosemite Valley as a member of the Ahwahneechee Native American tribe. The limited-edition 686 Everywhere Pant will feature Kauk’s Magic Line logo, which celebrates the 5.14c crack in Yosemite that Lonnie’s father, Ron Kauk, first climbed in 1996 and that Lonnie then completed in 2018 as the first redpoint ever. Both 686 and Kauk have hinted at a collaboration over recent months, placing easter eggs in their social media. The official partnership embraces 686’s journey beyond their snow OuterWear and into urban centers, travel, trails and walls with their EveryWear collection. Kauk and 686 are currently working on forthcoming designs that are expected to drop for fall 2022.
