The European Outdoor Conservation Association (Eoca) collected an overall €8,556 from the recent Ispo trade show in Munich. The Smartwool Vending Machine, which distributed socks on site, proved particularly successful, as it raised nearly €6,500. Socks also proved popular during the Eoca Happy Hour, which reportedly saw Teko Socks being sold faster than they could be displayed.
In addition, the Scandinavian Outdoor Group asked for contributions for food and drinks at their bar in the Scandinavian Village. The money it raised was topped up by Messe Munich and resulted in a joint donation to Eoca of €1,000. More funds were collected through the fundraiser held every day at the Eoca stand from the sales of products donated by its members.
Good news for Eoca also came from membership development, as four new members joined the organization at Ispo or immediately after the show, bringing the total number of Eoca members to 125. The association welcomed as new members: Rohan Designs, a U.K.-based outdoor clothing manufacturer and distributor; Pomoca, the Swiss ski bindings and climbing skins company; the Belgian outdoor retailer A.S. Adventure, its first Belgian member; and Shanghai Kuiran Trade, a clothes and equipment producer and the first Chinese member for Eoca.
All membership fees goes directly into the conservation projects supported by Eoca.
