To support the specialized retail trade in times of the Covid-19 crisis, Vaude has set up a package of measures that should help the its retail partners to generate sales despite shop closures. This includes several options: local delivery service, support for online business and an accommodating approach to delivery agreements. Via a new platform on the Vaude homepage, retailers and brand stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland can now offer a local delivery service. According to the company, more than 100 retailers have already registered for this service within a few days.
“Together we can get through this difficult phase,” said Markus Schelkle, head of sales mountain sports Germany at Vaude. As a first step, the brand has been successively stopping deliveries since mid-March, in consultation with its specialized retail partners, and has adjusted delivery dates to suit individual needs. Since April 1, Vaude has not charged its retail partners in Germany and neighboring countries for shipping cost to particularly facilitate small orders.
Despite the current situation, Vaude is still operating. “Thanks to our corporate culture and our IT structure, around 200 employees were able to work in their home offices virtually from one day to the next,” said Manfred Meindl, head of international marketing at Vaude. The manufacture also continues to produce bike bags and cases under stricter hygiene regulations and in compliance with all recommended standards. The central logistics at the company headquarters is in operation to handle local delivery orders for retailers as well as online orders. The repair service also continues to operate to the full extent. The in-house sales force is also available, as are the reps for all areas and the visual merchandisers.
