At this year's OutDoor by Ispo trade show, the Polish Outdoor Group set up the first official Polish Outdoor Village. Various Polish outdoor brands, including Comodo, Fjord Nansen, Lesovik, Milo, Pajak and Stampol-F, presented their latest product innovations in this section of the show, which was evidently inspired by the long-standing Scandinavian Outdoor Village.
According to the Polish Outdoor Group, the Polish outdoor market achieved an annual turnover of €250 million in 2018. Two large companies, the Martes Sport Group and OTCF, currently dominate the sporting goods and outdoor market in Poland.
Martes Sport has about 300 stores and plans to open another 500 in and outside Poland in the next couple of years. OTCF has a chain of almost 200 stores for its private brand, 4F, which is represented in 27 European markets. Decathlon has a chain of 45 stores in the Polish market, Go Sport 33 stores and Intersport 30 stores.
Aside from these big multi-sport players, there are only about 20 independent specialized outdoor retailers in the Polish market. The North Face currently has ten mono-brand stores in the country, Mammut and Jack Wolfskin each have eight, and Salewa has four.
