The Salewa Group is anticipating a 5.5 percent sales increase to €135 million for this year, indicating that the Italian-based company is growing faster than the European outdoor market. One key driver has been the new footwear division created in June 2005 under Antonio Dus, which is now targeting deliveries of 100,000 pairs for 2009. Sales of the new footwear line were 50 percent higher than forecast in 2007 and its success has been confirmed this year. Shown at OutDoor in Friedrichshafen, the third collection is more technical and its design has been welcomed by the trade. Salewa is also proposing new display systems to the retailers. A total of 150 Salewa shop-in-shops are now in place in the various alpine countries. In addition to the Salewa stores in Russia and the Czech Republic, new stores are being opened in Asia. In Korea, a local partner has opened 44 shops and is planning to add 16 more before the end of 2010.
