There’s no space left at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, slated for Aug. 2-6 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has just over 1,000 exhibitors scheduled for the indoor area, 12 percent more than last year, including almost 170 new ones, which is a 48 percent increase over their numbers in 2009. Pre-registration for visitors is also up by 18 percent. The show is looking at new ways to respond to the requests of some major athletic footwear companies and others from the casual footwear, fishing tackle and paddle sports sectors. Buyers’ pre-registrations have risen by 18 percent. One reason is the addition of 50 companies that were previously showing at the recently cancelled Fly Fishing Retailer fair.
