At the recent FFANY footwear show in New York, Timberland announced that for next autumn's collection, all three of its main segments – classic, outdoor performance and casual – would meet the Earthkeeper green standards that the brand started in autumn 2007.

It has also added new supplemental categories, warm/cold, wet/dry and traction/grip, to be used throughout the core segments to fully meet any demand. Most of its products for next autumn will include “Gripstick,” a rubber that has extra grip used on the outsoles; “TimberShield,” which provides water repellency; and “TimberDry,” for waterproofing.

Timberland is also going to combine its outdoor performance segment with casual, marrying style with functionality.

The brand has included its “Earthkeepers Heritage” line in its classics category, subtly blending the well-worn look with clean lines. Other innovations include a hard-shell toe for the “Rime Ridge” winter boot, and a tall faux fur boot under the women's “Mount Holly” line.
