Treksta, the leading South Korean brand of outdoor footwear, will be selling its product line in the U.K. from spring 2013 through a distribution partnership with Bridgedale, the big British producer of technical outdoor socks.

The most important markets for Treksta in Europe are currently Scandinavia, Germany and Spain. Sporthaus Moxter, which distributes Meindl in Sweden, has been selling Treksta to key accounts in Sweden and Norway since the end of 2010.

Europe accounts for only 10 percent of Treksta's global turnover, but its sales in the region grew by more than 30 percent last year. The brand's total sales reached the equivalent of $60 million in 2011, up by 6 percent compared with the previous year. U.S. sales doubled, but they still represent only 5 percent of the total turnover.

In Japan, sales dropped by 50 percent because of the tsunami, but Treksta assumes that they will return to the same level as before the disaster by June 2013.

The Korean brand opened a mono-brand store in Jakarta this month. From there, Treksta will start selling its products to other specialty stores in the Indonesian market soon. The brand's total sales are expected to reach a level of $70 million this year.
