Vaude announces that it has reached “leader” status as a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF), reaching a score of 83 percent in its 2014 Brand Performance Check. The German company says it is carrying out 96 percent of its production in facilities that have been monitored in accordance with FWF requirements for labor standards.

To obtain FTW leader status, companies must reach a score of at least 75 percent in the foundation's annual benchmark and prove that at least 90 percent of the production is in facilities monitored according to its standards.

A team of 14 Vaude employees in Asia visits the production facilities of the company's subcontractors, verifying the quality of the products as well as their performance in terms of social responsibility and environmental protection.

Only a few outdoor companies appear in the FWF's 2014 Brand Performance Check, and the majority of them are German. Only Deuter performed better than Vaude, reaching a score of 94 percent. Vaude was followed by Mammut (75%), Haglöfs (72%), Schöffel (62%), Odlo (60%), Hess Natur (59%) and Maier Sports (52%). Interesting comments are made about each company on the foundation's website.
