Yeah!, a German outdoor retailer that operates the Sine store in Frankfurt and low-budget specialty outdoor stores called McTrek, has opened its 12th McTrek outlet in the Bavarian city of Regensburg. The company has hired Georg Haas as purchasing manager. Haas worked for Sine for seven years before he switched to Tropicare and Katadyn as sales representative. In 2008, Yeah! reached sales of €11.3 million, 30 percent more than in the previous year. The operating profit was impressive by German retail standards at some €1 million. In the previous year, the company's operating profit was slightly below €200,000. In the first six months of 2009, Sine, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, increased its sales by 22 percent. Online sales at the Sine and McTrek sites soared by 105 percent and are expected to match the level of sales of the Sine store in Frankfurt this year. McTrek grew by 36 percent in the same period. The man behind Yeah! is Ulrich Dausien, a pioneer in the local outdoor scene. He is actually the inventor of Jack Wolfskin. He founded the brand in 1981 and sold it to Johnson Outdoors in 1994.
