Berghaus is going to open its second flagship store in London in October. The store will be located in Covent Garden after the brand launched its British and European own retail business with an outlet in the capital’s MetroCentre. In South Korea, Berghaus now counts 24 doors, but intends to have 400 across Asia. The Pentland brand says that it is about to finalize a deal with a major Chinese distributor that will operate Berghaus’ local business through a license agreement. The British outdoor company has recently strengthened its retail division with two new managers: Matt Kemp, Berghaus’ new head of global retail, has been hired from Field & Trek where he served as retail operations director and later as director of buying and merchandising. Field & Trek was recently acquired by Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct. Mike Clark, who was most recently the store manager of Berghaus’ MetroCentre flagship store, has been promoted to the position of a retail operations manager.
