Europe’s leading motorcycle manufacturer Pierer Mobility, together with its young and wholly-owned e-bike division Pierer E-Bikes (brands Husqvarna E-Bicycles, GasGas and R Raymon) and Pierer Mobility’s long-time strategic brand development and design partner from Austria, Kiska, is establishing its own development & design center in Munich for its Husqvarna e-Bicycles brand. A leading role in the new company called EBDC GmbH (for “E-Bike Development Center”) is played by the well-known bicycle and e-bike designer Alex Thusbass (among others design director and marketing lead at Haibike until 2017).

To meet the high dynamics of the industry and Husqvarna E-Bicycles, the new center will be managed by Kiska, which is considered one of the most renowned design agencies in the field of (motorized) two-wheelers. Pierer Mobility holds 50 percent of the shares in Kiska (see Group structure).

The new Kiska subsidiary EBDC will be responsible for all Husqvarna E-Bicycles brand products in the future. It will relocate engineering, design and product management to Munich. Networked, interdisciplinary teams will not only develop series models but also initiate innovation projects. In addition to the important offroad segment, a central, strategic focus will be on the key area of urban mobility.

Thusbass will take on the role of director of design & innovation. Alongside him, Michael Rieder will lead the engineering & design team. The new Munich office of the currently seven-strong team will provide space for 20 to 30 employees from the areas of engineering, design and product management. The vacant positions are currently being filled.
