German outdoor equipment company Vaudereleased its 2024 climate report, revealing a 40 percent reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2019 baseline, despite a 27 percent increase in revenue over the same period.

“This result gives me hope,” said CEO Antje von Dewitz. “It shows that bold action can truly drive change.” The reduction was driven largely by a shift to renewable energy across Vaude’s global supply chain, including phasing out fossil fuels among material suppliers. The company collaborates on this effort through the European Outdoor Group’s Carbon Reduction Project.

Vaude climate balance

Vaude surpassed its Scope 1 emissions reduction target for 2026 two years early. Emissions from its Tettnang headquarters – mainly from heating and company vehicles – have fallen by 71 percent since 2019. The facility runs on certified biogas, and two-thirds of the company fleet has been electrified, charging on 100 percent green electricity.

In product development, 90 percent of the 2025 collection already uses at least 50 percent recycled or renewable materials. Vaude’s new goal is for 90 percent of products to meet an 85 percent threshold by 2030. In 2024 alone, material use dropped 30 percent compared to the previous year, reflecting process efficiency improvements rather than a decline in output.

Vaude climate targets

Despite market challenges and flat sales across the outdoor sector, Vaude reaffirmed its net-zero target for 2040, citing structural improvements rather than lower production as the main factor in its emissions decline.
